A Youth-Led Movement for Social Transformation
Komboa Jamii Initiative (KJII) is a non-profit, youth-led organization established in 2024 and duly registered in Kenya. Headquartered in Siaya County, we operate across all 47 counties, primarily focusing on rural western Kenya.
We work with young people aged 9–35 years to advance social transformation through education, advocacy, technology, innovation, and service provision.
About us
Komboa Jamii (meaning “Rescue Community” in Kiswahili) Initiative (KJII) is a non – profit, youth – led organization established in 2024 and duly registered in Kenya under the Companies Act, 2015. In accordance with its registration, the organization is authorized to operate across all forty-seven (47) counties of Kenya and beyond, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
The organization is headquartered in Siaya County and currently implements programs in Siaya County and neighboring counties within the Lake Region Economic Block. Komboa Jamii works with young people aged 9 – 35 years and their communities, primarily in rural western Kenya, to advance social transformation through education, advocacy, technology, innovation, and service provision.

Our History
Komboa Jamii – meaning “Rescuing the Community” in Swahili – is a youth-led, non-profit organization committed to empowering marginalized and underserved populations Western part of Kenya. Our focus is on women, young people, and families in vulnerable communities, particularly in rural western Kenya.
KJI was founded in 2023 by a passionate individual with a vision to address pressing community needs in rural of Alego Siaya County. Observing gaps in access to health, education, economic opportunities, and social support, the founder envisioned an organization that could enable communities to transform their own lives.
In 2024, KJI was officially registered under the Companies Act, 2015, which allowed organization to operate legally across all 47 counties of Kenya and beyond, expand programs, and collaborate with partners. Since then, KJI have implemented initiatives in health, education, livelihood and economic empowerment, Agriculture to address food insecurity, environmental conservation, and social advocacy.

Kennedy Gwa
Executive Director.
Provides strategic leadership and vision. Leads partnerships, resource mobilization, and program design while overseeing organizational governance.
Macreen Otieno
Monitoring And Evaluation (M&E) Officer.
Oversees tracking, analyzing, and reporting on programs to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and impact.
Erick Owino
Communications Officer
Manages communications and outreach, sharing program stories and engaging stakeholders to promote awareness.
Merceline Otieno
Education Director.
Oversees budgets, financial reporting, and donor compliance. Manages procurement and administrative operations for organizational efficiency.
Vivian Ogollah
Finance Assistant.
Supports finances, budgeting, bookkeeping, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accountability.

Agronomist
Supports agriculture projects, guiding communities on farming techniques, food security, and sustainability.

Facilitates life skills and personal development sessions, empowering youth with knowledge and practical tools.
